Our next demonstration date!

If you haven’t already read our recent post, our Petland, East Liberty, Pittsburgh, is trialling selling shelter animals.  We’re cautiously optimistic about this turn of events, but are very happy that the Caplans are willing to try the new business plan.  For the moment, no more demonstrations!  We’ll keep our eyes on the East Liberty Petland, and keep you all updated.

Thank you!

Good for all of you! It will probably take lots of pressure from other states to get any reform in Missouri. There is so much bias by Farm Bureau and others I’m not sure this Prop B has a chance :>{ It is also big bucks here and they influence the capitol in Jefferson City. The Hunte Corp contributes money to keep their sleezey operations going. And then with Joe the Plumber coming out with his big mouth!! Please do all you can out there to put pressure on Missouri to change it’s ways!

Hey Guys,

There’s a Petland located in the Pittsburgh Mills mall (590 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Tarentum, PA). I’ve talked to the manager and he was extremely rude and insensitive. I politely asked him where the store receives their puppies from. He replied “Oh…All over the place….” and i was like “From puppy mills?” And he got very defensive, saying “Our dogs come with 3 year warranties!” And I was like “Uhhhhh it’s an animal not an ipod…..” To which he replied “True, but you wouldn’t want your ipod to break, now would you?” I just walked away because i didn’t want to make a big scene and i also couldn’t deal with how ignorant he was. I really want to do something about this and i know you guys could help. thank you!

Hi Maria,

Sorry for the late response. Thank you for your posts and the information about the Pittsburgh Mills store. At the moment, we’re taking a short break and working out what to do next. The store that we were picketing started selling shelter animals, so we’re keeping an eye on that one and deciding if we have the manpower to look at one of the other Pittsburgh stores, like Monroeville. We hadn’t really thought about the Pittsburgh Mills store because it’s a bit out of our way, but thank you for putting it on our radar. Not surprising at all the responses from the manager when you spoke to him.

We will keep in touch with you – and you’re welcome to contact us again any time. We’ll let you know when we become active again and we would LOVE any help you can give us!

Keep up the good work! I live in Chicagoland and we protest the Petland every other Saturday….remember, if there isn’t a protest in your area start one! You only need 2 people and it’s alot fun AND you meet alot of great people.
