7 01 2009

Join us this Saturday, when we’ll be joined by the Humane Society of the US for their National Petland Rally!  We will be on Penn Avenue, outside the entrance to the Village of East Side Shopping Centre from 1 – 3 pm for a peaceful demonstration.  We have a tonne of signs, provided by the HSUS, but of course you’re welcome to bring your own.

We’d love you to help us ask Petland to stop selling companion animals.  You can read about the event at the HSUS website.

Please join us this Saturday!

Please DO NOT protest Petland. Unlike the HSUS would like you to believe, Petland does not buy its puppies from ‘puppy mills.’ It buys it’s puppies from breeders that meet the standards of the USDA.

Petland is part of the solution, not the problem. They do not want substandard breeders. They give their franchise stores a Do Not Buy list of breeders who do not meet the Petland/USDA standards. Peltand wants to end puppy mills. Support Petland. They are on the same side of the issue as you are.

The HSUS allegations are false. They kennels they ‘investigated’ have no connection to Petland what so ever. They used the videos to mislead and they succeeded. Why should you trust an organization that does that? Learn more about Petland’s side of the issue at http://www.petland.com/truth.

Ally,

There is plenty of evidence that shows that Petland stores around the country have purchased puppies from breeders cited by the USDA with substandard conditions. We have presented some of this in our “Puppy mill puppies?” section. There are other websites which provide more comprehensive information. The Petland website is not short of its own rhetoric regarding the HSUS.

Aly,

No “good” breeder would sell their puppies to a pet store to be bought by whoever has the money! A breeder that truly cares about their puppies would want to screen potential homes and make sure the puppy is going to the right home. Breeders selling their dogs to a pet store are ONLY in the business to make money and that is all they care about. And that is sad. It is not our right as human beings to profit off of innocent lives…. And what IS a “good” breeder anyways, when there are thousands upon thousands dying in shelters every year???
